Artist's Description
This is a linocut print of a Black Cockatoo with Banksia tree.
Working with line, texture and tone. Printmaking is a very methodical way of working, as it takes many hours to design and then hand carve the woodblock prior to printing. The printing of the lino block is another art in itself, each print is unique and has a certain character.
As these are printed by hand so there’s always a few variations with the prints.
My influences include the Australian printmakers: Margret Preston and Barbara Hanrahan and the Japanese printmaker: Un'ichi Hiratsuka and the Sosaku-hanga woodblock print movement ("creative prints") from the 20thC.
