Artwork Description

After nearly half a century of military rule, Burma now called Myanmar is still a very poor country. The economic isolation from the rest of the world has left the country amongst the poorest countries on earth. Orphanages are a common sight across the country, which are mostly run by Buddhist monks. While it is not the school system you would excpect in our society it gives children a home and regular meals every day. This image was taken in Mandalay and is a powerful testament of how children, the future generation are left to their own devices with little or no financial support. This image is one of a series of three.
