Artwork Description

Abstracted view of the Wingecarribee river flowing through a grove of 'snappy gum' trees.

Painted November 2017. I consider this a defining work in my oeuvre as it (more or less) successfully addresses and resolves most of the dichotomies and contradictions thrown at the painter: Form vs. content; abstraction vs. representation; motif vs. object, stillness vs. motion; plane vs. depth; light vs. dark; primary vs. tertiary; curve vs. angle; certainty vs. ambiguity.

Definitely a painters painting.
