The Birth Of This Shed
I'm not sure of the exact location of the shed that was the inspiration behind the painting Fred's Shed as we were hopelessly lost when we stumbled upon it. We were holidaying on Yorke Peninsula South Australia and went out driving looking for windmills as I was looking forward to painting one and needed some photographs to work from. Our search for the perfect windmill went unrewarded but while trying to find our way back to the holiday shack my eyes caught a glimpse of this rustic blue shed basking in the sunlight. I twas obvious that it had seen better days, it looked well loved& screamed country. If it could speak the stories it could tell...
We thought we'd be cheeky so we pulled into the driveway and knocked on the front door of the rather modern looking farm house, but there was nobody home. The old shed was calling us with a croaky voice so with camera in hand we snuck down the back of the house to take some quick pictures all the while stressing that
