Soft On Rosslyn
I'm practicing to capture evocative tonal effects of my home ground, similar to Clarice Beckett's watercolours. I love her paintings!!!
"Clarice Majoribanks Beckett (21 March 1887 – 7 July 1935) was an Australian tonalist painter whose works are featured in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria and the Art Gallery of South Australia.
Yeppoon, Capricorn Coast, gateway to the Keppel Islands is gorgeous. I have not been attracted to paint it until I stumbled across Clarice's style. Her paintings give me a feeling, and it's that feeling of 'home' I want to convey.
Yeppoon makes me feel soft, layback, close to God. It's a spiritual place, I've done much healing here over the years.
This little A4 painting captures the gratitude and stillness of long, mostly deserted beaches with baby Islands dotting the horizon, and the feeling of time slowed down, a lazy, hazy time.
