Influence: Pelicans are such graceful birds whilst souring through the air, a sheer delight to watch with their giant wing span and impressive giant bill. When they make an entry onto the water however, its a different story. Living by the Bay, I am witness to many of these large birds and have had, on many occasions witnessed their “not so graceful” landing. Being such a large bird, they do make a splash when descending on to the calm waters of my Bay. As I observe their awkward style, I am in awe of their rapid decrease in speed, there legs and webbed feet sprayed out looking more like their going to put a webbed foot on the car brakes.
This is my tribute to my fave water bird: the Pelican. This particular species of Pelican is called the “Grey White Pelican” also known as the Eastern Pelican, Rosy Pelican or White Pelican.
