Artist's Description

I lost my dad before I was 2 to leukemia, I've also lost too many people to suicide and other accidents. Death is something that has been a part of my life whether I've wanted it to be or not. I've been afraid of it, resigned to it, hated it, attempted to take myself out, and many other things. I am finally tackling any remaining fear of death head on, and painting through it. I have always been fascinated by the tension between having faith in life after death - which is supposed to bring peace about dying, and the doubts as to whether there is life after death - which just makes death a terrifying final end. Death does come as the end for us all, and I'm finally making peace with that, with what it looks like to be a Christian and have acceptance and worry over death at the same time, and how to live with it. This is the first in what is a new series that I'm exploring. I'll work on it until I have made peace in my heart with death.
