After watching a few blockbuster World War II movies recently and seeing the White Cliffs of Dover, I felt compelled to paint my interpretation of these famous white cliffs. I relied solely on my memory for this beautiful landscape, as I have visited Dover numerous times during my childhood and youth. I added the blue birds to give not only depth but as an echo to the song that was made famous by Vera Lynn who was an English singer and sweetheart of the British troops, whom she often entertained during the war. I used texture paste to add a 3D feel to the top of the cliffs and used very thick paint to add further texture to the canvas.
