"Weekend"
La Vie En Rose, Yesterday Series
#2
Inspired by the tonal watercolour paintings of Clarice Beckett
Tonal watercolour on 300gsm Arches paper 36x27 in a classic, professionally made white, slightly recessed frame 51x43 - classy!
Painting shown in photo/s is an 'online funky frame with white border' (it's too difficult to get a good photo once the painting is under glass). The actual, professionally made frame is shown in the series of 4 paintings, currently exhibited.
My aim is to paint the feeling of my home environment. The sky's late afternoon vibrant pink tones and the feeling of being enveloped by warmth makes me feel soft.
There's a stillness in the country and on the beach that's tangible. It's a comfortable friendly lay back place where it's possible to feel anonymous on the long, often deserted beaches. There sense of timelessness is enduring.
