I served a five year Signwriting apprenticeship in the early sixties learning all sides of the display industry, murals, silk screen printing hand cutting our stencils, spray painting and many other facets. After a few years I started my own business and for the next twenty some years contracted to some large companies, Australian Posters, building and painting billboards, TNT, signwriting their trucks and printing signs, Fielder's Bread, painting shopfronts, facias, awnings and windows all over the greater Sydney area. I spent nine years contracting to Buspak in Sydney painting and signwriting eighty buses each year for advertising (this was prior to the introduction of computerised signmaking. In 1990 I moved my family to Queensland where I was the in-house Scenic Artist at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast for fourteen years until my retirement. After a few years I began painting again and was immediately hooked. I exhibited at the Royal Queensland Art Society winning many awards and selling my art. Then in 2016 my wife and I moved to the beautiful seaside town of Yamba where I now spend my time painting, golfing and fishing.
